From Wonderland to Pleasurewood Hills
Two characters from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland will be swapping the world down the rabbit hole for Pleasurewood Hills this Easter.
Fans of the classic story can book seats at the Hatter’s table for an interactive afternoon tea with the tale’s characters Alice and the Hatter.
The stage of Pleasurewood Hills’ Castle Theatre will be transformed in to a mini Wonderland for the tea parties which will run from 30 March to 15 April. Guests will be able to hear about Alice’s time in Wonderland while they enjoy tea, cakes and other tea time treats. They may also be set a riddle or two to solve by the Hatter and will also get to meet the park’s very own Woody Bear who loves a party!
Pandemonium Productions, based in Beccles, are stage-managing the tea parties and will be providing the actors who will be stepping in to the shoes of the Hatter and Alice. Although much of their work sees them completing a range of projects in East Anglia, the company are no strangers to travelling around the country and their work often takes them to the Midlands and London.
Adam Noble, General Manager at Pleasurewood Hills, said: “We’re really excited to be working with Beccles based Pandemonium Productions. We have worked with the company previously during our Halloween-themed week Pleasurewood Chills, so we are looking forward to seeing how the team can bring the tea parties to life and create a magical experience for our visitors.”
Several sessions are available throughout the Easter Holiday and each tea party lasts for one hour.

Apprentices Play a Role at the Park
Two apprentices have been playing an important role in helping to make sure that a popular tourist attraction in East Anglia is ready to open later this month.
Matt Challis and Aaron Dobson joined the maintenance team at Pleasurewood Hills last year and have been busy making sure the rides at the Lowestoft Theme Park are ready for the thousands of people who are expected to visit between March and October.
The pair were both offered an Advanced Apprenticeship after successfully completing work experience at the park while they were students on the Level 2 Maintenance Engineering course at East Coast College, Lowestoft Campus. During the work experience programme, both impressed the park’s maintenance team with their attitude and knowledge and were offered places with the permanent team.
As Apprentices, Matt and Aaron get to spend time working alongside the members of the park’s maintenance team and also attend college for one day a week. They have both seen first-hand how positive joining the apprenticeship programme has been for their career development.
18-year-old Matt said: “With an apprenticeship I find that I am learning at a more practical level. I get to do more hands-on work which helps me understand the work better – it’s my preferred way to learn.”
19-year-old Aaron has found that becoming an Apprentice has helped to boost his confidence and recognises that it has also helped him to develop a more mature attitude. And, when he finishes his apprenticeship, Aaron hopes it will open a door to the world of higher education and an Engineering Degree.
Adam Noble, General Manager at Pleasurewood Hills, said: “We’re really pleased to support the Apprenticeship Programme as it is a great way to be able to encourage and support people looking to start their careers in the engineering industry and boost the workforce at the park. Several people from the Maintenance Team began their own careers as Apprentices so they really do understand how valuable this kind of training can be in preparing for the world of work.”
Grab a Pizza the Action
Pizza lovers are being given the chance to see their perfect pizza on the menu of a new all-you-can-eat restaurant at Pleasurewood Hills.
To celebrate National Pizza Day on Friday, February 9, the family theme park is running a ‘Create Your Own Pizza’ competition with the winning idea being served in Tony’s Pizza and Pasta Restaurant for the 2018 season.
The park is looking for a standout idea which will prove to be a hit with diners and, the winning creation will be added to the choice of pizzas on the menu.
Maybe you’ve tried a delicious pizza while you’re on holiday and think it should be brought to the theme park or want to create something using ingredients you love but which you have never seen used as a topping, or, perhaps you have an idea for a twist on a traditional pizza.
To enter the competition send the name for your pizza, together with a list of the toppings to email@example.com by Friday, February 16. The winner will be chosen from all entries received and will be announced on the park’s social media pages.
Pleasurewood Hills Sponsors Team
Budding footballers at the Lil Kickers Academy have been given a boost by Pleasurewood Hills.
The family theme park has sponsored the t-shirts for the 150 members of the club who attend sessions in Bradwell, Gorleston and Lowestoft. Lil Kickers is for children between the age of two and seven years and gives them the chance to develop their football skills and improve their fitness levels, at the same time as developing their social skills.
To mark the partnership, Woody Bear joined the academy’s Christmas party to present the team with their shirts. He also became an honorary member of the club for the evening by wearing his own club t-shirt.
Adam Noble, General Manager at Pleasurewood Hills, said: “We’re really pleased to support the Lil Kickers Academy and are looking forward to working with them throughout 2018.”
John Allitt, owner, said: “On behalf of Lil Kickers I would like to thank Pleasurewood Hills for sponsoring my Academy. The sponsorship has now meant that I’m able to provide every child that attends Lil Kickers with the club football shirt – This is something I’ve been so passionate about since starting the Academy in 2015. Not only has it helped me manage this but it has already brought so many smiles and much happiness to all my Lil Kickers – especially when they’ve met Woody at the theme park and at our Christmas Party.”
